What Is Adsense? Podcast

What Is Adsense?

We produced a short video describing to the world exactly what Google Adsense is. This is our first attempt at podcasting and posting content on YouTube, so give us a break if its not perfect.

This all came about from a search on YouTube for the keyword “Adsense” and discovered there was only three videos. One was not in English, one didn’t seem to have anything to do with Adsense, and the other is definitely about the program but turned out to be just a short 2 minute advertisement to buy DVD’s at $19.97 a piece, in the hopes of making millions. Not that making millions isn’t possible with Adsense, far from it, but we figured some people would just like a brief, basic and FREE explanation.

Enjoy...

Good Is The Enemy Of The Best

In business there is nothing worse than apathy. You’ve probably been in the presence of apathy when you have seen someone have a “Good Month” or “Land a Big Account”! You may even have personally experienced this. Where the “I did a good job” attitude, results in someone sitting on their ass, because frankly they can and have set their personal expectations too low.

So why is good the enemy of the best?

Well, first off it doesn’t have to be. Secondly, when we ask an employee to meet a specific target or even expect a certain result from ourselves, we need to have motivations to expect people or ourselves to go beyond our goals, even after they are achieved.

1. Ensure there is additional benefit for going above and beyond.
2. Recognize others and yourself for achieving targets, but make it fun and worthwhile to keep going.
3. Define the motivation for the action and encourage it.

Good is the enemy of the best, because we can’t be the best if we are just good! Good is great, and always will be.

Being the best will always be better than good!

What is Marketing?

What is Marketing?

“Marketing is ANY contact between ANYONE in your business and ANYONE outside it.”

I am not going to take claim of this ultra simplified definition of what marketing is. In fact, I am not going to even tell you who said this. You tell me… the first person to post the correct answer, whether that is today or a month from now, I will give a free copy of RSS Announcer ($97 Value). If you blog and aren’t using RSS…you should!

“.. is ANY contact between ANYONE in your business and ANYONE outside it.”

The beauty of this statement is that it smacks you in the face.

Take a little dose of marketing reality, and we all will most likely admit that with this definition, we are probably falling down on more than one front. Any contact from the outside can have an impact on your business- positive or negative. Whether that is how your phone is answered, the appearance of your website, how clean your office is, or the spelling in your emails…

His last name ends with a…. “N”

Online Marketing Dump

Online Marketing Dump

Just when you thought there wasn't enough crap on the internet... along comes the Online Marketing Dump!

A good friend of mine Ben Mack, who just happens to be a genius when it comes to branding, has started a blog called the Online Marketing Dump. A group of online marketers, myself not included, will on May 1st be taking a detox called Colonix. As you can imagine this product is suppose to clean your innards out...so to speak. They are doing this to get healthy, but as I see it they will all be sitting on their toilets (few with laptops in tow) wishing they did a little more research on what detoxifying the body feels like.

I'd like to point out a recent testimonial to these guys directly from a user of COLONIX... pay attention to the part where she says, "BUTT HURTS"!

I started the Colonix again and thought, ‘Why did I wait this long to do the second month?!’ Oh my God, I can't even explain. My butt hurts because I've gone so much, but it's well worth it!! It's day three and I've had mountains come out of me! I had one long one that went from being fat to super skinny to fat to super skinny and it kept going and going. It was connected. It was disgusting!! That really opened my eyes and that's just the help of the fiber and tea!!! I haven't even started the Paranil pills yet! Day 3 and I've lost 5, YES FIVE, pounds!!! I'll keep you posted on the rest!”- Robin K., Frederick, CO, Feb 5, 2006

Here is the blogspot address: http://onlinemarketingdump.blogspot.com/

Despite all that Ben's posts at the Online Marketing Dump are enlightenting & informative, and really get you thinking about your business.

Enjoy your dump!

Coke versus Pepsi- Now Here Is Ingenuity!

Coca-Cola versus Pepsi- Where Coke Wins On Shere Ingenuity
OK! So I know everyone is going to say we are on the the YouTube bandwagon, but a picture does really say a thousand words. Ergo video says a million.

If you are going to use your competitors brand in your advertising, then use it wisely. A Pepsi versus Coke commercial was apparently banned... but you can't neccesarily believe everything you read on the interent!

In this commercial a child jonesing for a soft drink ponies up to the vending machine and stuffs in change to get three drinks. First drink you see drop is a Coke, and the kid promptly puts the can on the ground. Second drink, again is a Coke and he puts it beside the other can-foot width appart. Then he uses the two cans of Coke as leverage to stand on to be able to reach the Pepsi button. Out drops the Pepsi, and our friendly neighbourhood Pepsi boy walks away leaving the cokes where they stand- in Pepsi's dust!

Ingenious advertising.... who ever was responsible for this one deserves an award!

Axe Branding - Sex Is Big Business

Last year Sam & I interviewed expert Ben Mack about branding, amongst other things, and one of the topics of conversation that came up was Axe Deoderant. So when I came across this Axe video it just had to be posted to our blog.

In this video, cleverly done there is only one underlying theme of the axe brand. Men will get laid if you use their product. It is not overt, nor hidden...it is a bold, in your face statement, and it has obviously worked. In fact, anything you see from Axe from their website, right down to their TV ads proudly displays their Get Laid branding.

Would it suprise you to know that Axe is brought to you by the same company that brings you Dove soap and Becel Margarine? Unilever is a major food corporation with a market capitalization of over 65 Billion dollars. Yes folks, sex is big business & big business is sex.

If you are reading this via RSS and are dying to see this latest Axe Video, we have posted it on our blog at www.LongRunMarketing.com

Also, Ben Mack is also coming out with a wicked product vers soon you will want to check out called Think Two Products Ahead ... I'll keep you guessing what its about!

Sam Heyer At The Big Seminar

Sam has been in Atlanta for the past three days attending the Big Seminar... lookng forward to hearing what he experienced and the projects we are now going to be a part of... what a great opportunity!
